The presentation ceremony of Morningstar Malaysia Awards 2014 was successfully held on March 17, 2014. The Awards recognize retail funds and fund groups that added the most value for investors within the context of their relevant peer group in 2013 and over the longer term.
In his opening speech, Mr. Tom Schiller (below), Managing Director of Morningstar Asia Pacific, stressed that with the Asia-Pacific region facing its population aging and its middle class growing, there will be an increasing demand for products to help investors make informed investment decisions. Morningstar will continue to strengthen its fund research capacity to provide the public with free investment tools and content.
We were honored to have Puan Sharifatul Hanizah, President of FPAM (below) to share her views on Fund Industry for Financial Planning in Malaysia.
Mr. Arne Hilke (below), Fund Research Analyst of Morningstar Asia, talked about global industry trends in asset flows and opportunities brought by the Asia funds passports. With over 30 fund research professionals located across 7 fund markets in Asia, Morningstar is ready to support increasing cross-border fund activities that arise out of regional fund passport initiatives. Morningstar will invest in additional resources and broaden the research coverage.
Ms. Jin Tao (below), Director of Investment Management of Morningstar Asia briefed the audience on the global retirement market.
